I think it would be interesting what all everyone thinks about the upcoming US presidential election.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, as I'm probably in the minority here, but I personally prefer McCain.

Meh, if I were American I'd prefer Obama. I can never see why Republicans are almost always against things like gay mariage, It's not as if it affects them in a negative way.

Lol, good point. I'd just go with the candidate which is either closest to my personal beliefs or the one who is most suitable to run the country. All I seem to be hearing from the Republican party is dirt that they're trying to dig up on Obama which is not how a presidential candidate should behave not to mention how thick Gov. Palin seems to be. I never thought that the American two party system was all that democratic, if both parties are corrupt then the country's screwed. Even though it's dissapointing to hear about the global ecenomic crisis in a way I'm kind of glad. I hope it wipes the smug smile off of certain arrogant patriotic Americans (you know the type, the ones who think that Americans are superior, every other country is shite etc.) and of course as a socialist I hope that countries like the USA lean just a little bit more towards the left wing (as in free healthcare, education, public srevices, maybe a company or two etc.) Lol, I seem to have gone a little bit off topic

Obama but i wanted hillary. If Obama had Hillary as his VP then he would be a hell of a lot more certain to win, there are lots and lots of devoted hillary supporters that would of shown the same enthousiasm for them in a team. But he's choose someone else. I think Mccain might win but it will defently be a very close call, the thing is not a lot of american's are like this and its sad that they are all classed as this sometimes but there are a massive amount of thick rednecks who just vote for republicans.

There is no way McCain will win, Obama is pretty far ahead.

I favor Obama for the same reasons as Teivostan, but a big problem would be the issue of racism. Despite Obama's advantage in polls apparently he could still lose the election as people who think he's qualified but don't want an African-American in Oval Office. i read this from a story saying some people may not have been polling honestly. I think this is sad. PS; from what I saw at the VP debate, I find Palin rather shallow.
A couple weeks ago, I came across a chart in the Jakarta Post to see what major world countries thought of the election. In all of them, Obama has a pretty major gain, even in Russia where like 70% of the population didn't care. McCain was close only in the US
It's interesting to realize Democrats and Republicans are as different as two sides to a coin while a country like France has political parties from the Revolutionary Communist League to the near-Nazi National Front (of the dreaded Jean-Marie Le Pen)

Yea, but Obama has the youth vote. There are dozens of new voters; people have been registering in record numbers compared to the past. And there not even taken into account in the polls. I'd bet my left hand (I’m left handed) that obama wins.

I have to agree with Automaticz. The article I read mentioned that righties and lefties were good at doing different things (it depended on which half of the brain was the biggest)

... and OBAMA wins. You won't believe the euphoria at my school. Though I saw only tidbits of Obama's speech, I was able to catch McCain's acceptance speech. That was really impressive. Twice when McCain discussed Obama there, there were people booing him, and McCain just raised his arm, silently saying "please stop this". The self-control he excercised was phenomenal.

I just hope that he meets the extremely high expectations a large amount of people have.
