At the start of October I'm moving thirty miles to the north, to a place called York, for my university course. For the last few months I've been thinking a bit more about where I live, visiting parts of it much more frequently, and taking pictures. Whiston is a small village to the south-east of Rotherham, a large, dirty town. Whiston is comparatively greener and nicer, made up of a 17th century part, a pre-WW2 part (where I live) and a 1970's estate at the very easternmost point, full of socially dysfunctional families. In June this year most of the old part, which is low-lying, was flooded. The southern entrance to the village, in the old part. This would have been under several feet of water. Old methodist church just up the road: Fields about the place (taken today, both came out well. I got lost after this): This is the edge of the reservoir, which was on national television back in June when it looked like it was going to blow due to the strain. My friend was evacuated from his house at 3am...and went to our politics exam at 9am that same day: UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I'm just editing this so that the images aren't an inch high, hold on.

Beautiful landscape.....I live at the feet of Hungary's highest "mountain"(well, 1000m). My uni is in the middle of the lowland, quite boring... Pic1, pic2

Excellent. Very...tree-ish.
I should add for that last picture of mine, you can see on the right-hand of the dam where they've cheaply patched up the hole with aggregate.

I couldn't find a pic of the city itself We're famous, you know...err, we just need more publicity. Very professional. ;D

Would this be the mountain of Kékes, a mountain standing at over 1000ft, and whose name mean implicitly 'bluish' (after 'Kek', 'Blue')?

Looks pretty nice. Is it a tourist hotspot, what with the mountain and all? Best I could find of Rotherham: Strange, it looks much better through the lens of a camera...

The hotspot is called 'Mátrafüred', a small village located 2 miles to the north. Being the part of Gyongyos, all the profit goes to the authorities of the town. The locals constantly want financial independence, but our great leaders always deal with these separatists(with their rhetorics)
The same here. In reality, my hometown is a piece of shit.(except for the environment, i love that)

Rotherham is just getting over the fact that the industrial revolution didn't produce nice buildings! Sheffield (local city) is quite the same, but it has a massive bookshop so I don't mind much. But soon I'll be moving to York, one of the oldest cities around, full of American tourists, greenery, Medieval houses and all the books you could ever wish to buy.
