an operating system, like windows XP/vista. Unlike these microsoft products, the various Linux distributions are completely free.

Some Linux have a graphical interface some are just a bunch of DOS.

It's supposed to be better, but I've never bothered. Every time I change some fundamental aspect of my computer I always cock it up.
