This is a book about a teenager who gets involved with the rebellion in my country not too long ago. Hope you enjoy it and please don't comment here. Comment in the, "Rebel" Comments, thread. I know the chapters are kind of short...
Book Title: Rebel
Chapter 1: First Strike
Tom looked out the perfectly square window in his perfectly
square house. He sighed when he saw the gray and black,
perfectly square city with soldiers and police patrolling the
streets. Tom knew that his dad didn't like this country and he
especially didn't like Emperor Kazzer. Tom agreed with his father
but he didn't want to agree. He didn't want the soldiers to find
out and execute him. Every time he passed a soldier or an
enforcer he always got very tense and clenched his teeth
together. He felt as though they would look at him and
yell, "Traitor!" Then they blow his brains out with their rifles.
Speaking of traitors, Tom's father had said that there was talk
of rebellion and his father left early today. He said he had an
early meeting at the office. Tom didn't exactly believe this but he
felt as though he should trust his father. The one thing Tom
feared, was the day he turned 18. On that day he would have to
make a life changing decision. Either one could mean his death.
He either had to serve out his mandatory 2 years in Kazzerland's
Imperial Military, or he had to trust his father and hide from the
government. Lately Tom had been very touchy and tense
because his eighteenth birthday was in 2 weeks. The stress of
knowing that he had to make this decision was driving him
insane.
Tom sat there blankly staring out the window. He thought and
thought and the more he did so, the more tense and more angry
he got. He knew that the rebellion was going strong and that
they might have a chance of overthrowing Kazzer. The
government seemed to know little of the large rebellion that was
quickly forming and growing in power. Tom's father had even told
him that a first strike was being planned by the rebels. The first
strike was to be here in the capital, Kazzerburg, Tom's
hometown. He just didn't know when or what it would be.
Tom heard his mother calling, "Tommy, time for dinner!" Tom
hated it when his mom called him Tommy. He replied, "It's Tom,
and I'll be down in a minute." Slowly, he walked down the steps
and into the kitchen. His father wasn't home. Tom sat down to a
plate of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas. He smiled,
grabbed his fork and dug in. As he ate Tom heard several loud
rumbles. Tom's little sister, Maddy screamed, "What was that
mommy?" in here high-pitched four year old voice. Tom wondered
what it was, too. Tom's mom then replied in a calm voice, "I don't
know sweetie, I'll go look."
Tom's mom let out a gasp and yelled, "Oh my god!" With that
he jumped up from the table, saying, "What is it mom?" Tom ran
to the window where his mom stood and looked out. There at
least a dozen flaming cars toppled over all over the street. More
cars where joining them. The explosions rang in Tom's ears and
shattered the front windows sending a mist of razor sharp glass
speeding in all directions. Tom felt the glass tear at his skin all
over his body. He dropped to the ground in pain and let out a
yelp. While clenching his teeth, Tom observed himself, His skin
was coated in tiny but semi-deep cuts and stabs that were
letting out blood. He grunted in pain and stood up.
He could here Maddy screaming but his vision was blurry so
he didn't no exactly where she was. He looked out the shattered
window to see more and more explosions. He saw flaming
people running around screaming and the same case for
enforcers and soldiers. Tom growled in anger and punched the
wall in front of him, leaving a deep dent. He then realized that
this must be the rebel attack. The first strike against the only city
that is 98% loyal to Kazzer. I knew that most of the dieing
civilians were loyalists, but it was still wrong. Soldiers and
enforcers began rushing to the scene but finding no one to shoot
or arrest. Just dozens of flaming cars and scorched bodies
littering a main street in Kazzerburg.
Ambulances suddenly came speeding to the road putting the
bodies of the wounded into the backs of their trucks and then
speeding away again. Tom looked down at his blood drenched
skin and clothes and he fell over. Tom just laid there, starring at
the ceiling listening to more distant rumbles, flames, ambulances,
and voices. Suddenly, the door broke open and three soldiers
came bursting in with their rifles ready. Tom put his hands up as
one of them pressed the rifle to his face while growling. Tom
yelled, "Don't kill me, I'm loyal! I'm just a civilian! Don't Shoot!"
The soldiers apparently believed him and loaded him in to
ambulance where he blacked out.
