I know, I know. Actually, in my Latin class just now a character (Quintus) has a friend called Alexander, who is Greek, and they are both having an argument over which civilization is better. Quintus asserts that Rome is the better since there are many fine architects that build roads and bridges, whereas Greeks are lazy and watch plays. Alexander replies, I immediately thought of Christerland. ;D

Huh... Y'know, I've kinda wanted to learn Latin ever since that kid in The Sixth Sense said something to the degree of "Domesticus ad la clato domini" and I always kinda thought that it would be funny to say stuff in latin or another language so I can say something like "I enjoy the weekday at suday brunch" at random times...

I wanted to ever since Monty Python's Life of Brian. I should let you know right now that six classes in I'm hardly top of the class at it, but I did translate that paragraph all by myself. This is going to open so many legs doors for me.

This is going to be difficult since I don't, as yet, know any Roman vulgarities yet. 2 minutes.

The best I can deliver at the moment is to say, "Primus est fucifer!". Which means, 'Primus is a thief'. It sounds even better when you remember that all 'c's in Latin were hard, or pronounced 'k'. That's why the German leader was the Kaiser, because that's how the Romans pronounced 'Ceasar'.

you have an "aufblasbare" guy in your pants?
tout va pour le mieux quand nous parlons tout aux langues differentes it is a grand request (got that from quand, the grand from tout) of yours (pour (of) le mieux (me)) for us not to speak (gtf nous parlons (in greek parlons is similar)) different languages (gtf langues differentes)?
oh, and that latin is soooo easy
Vos (you) Romani (romans) estis (estis= estin, the same in greek) miserandi (miserable). Vos (you) imperium (empire) maximum (great) habetis (=have)
sed (didn't get that) vos(you) estis( are-same in greek) imatatores (immitators); nos (us- similar in spanish) Graeci (greeks) sumus auctores (didn't get that)
Vos (our) Graecas (greek) statuas (statues) spectatis (spectate, look), vos Graecos libros (book, as in library) legitis (lego= say in greek, anyways got it from the book part),
Graecos rhetores (rhetoric) auditis (as in audio). Vos Romani estis (are) ridiculi (same in english)
Quod (cuz) (you: implied) estis (are) Graeciores (greeks) quam (root of word quantity, so bigger quantity) nos (us) Graeci! greeks
its all latin to me! and all that without any french, spanish, or latin lessons, that spanish "us" is from movies.
damn i really like language studies, i hate grammar but i love the language roots etc

I've noticed the similarities with Spanish (for example, 'semper' is Latin for always, and 'siempre' is Spanish for always), and I'm pretty sure I'd see more similarities with Greek. Unfortunately I don't know much Greek -though I do know how to ask for the bill.

christlerland, the real thing I said was:
Ah, everything goes well when we speak in different languages!
Though I might have used the idiom 'tout va pour le mieux' incrorrectly

I'm going to learn the Latin for 'take it off!'. It might be useful.
