At quarter to two in the afternoon on Wednersdays, in the blissfully hot summer days that demarked the profligance of autumn, my two-hour politics lessons would begin. Economic policy, the welfare state, the European Union -these were all topics that had to be endured while the room (which seemed to turn into a prism during the height of the day) reached temperatures that would make a Saharan native stop traversing a bleak desert to wipe his brow. It was under these circumstances that I began to deviate from my work. It started as small, harmless maps of Europe that I attatched notes to, and ended with an entire essay on how a friend of mine 'In The Years 1933-45, Would Have Been A National Socialist'*. This is the earliest piece of laziness, dating well back to September.** Stagflation: an economic term to describe the rare event where there is both unemployment and inflation. Here is an essay on the CAP (it goes off the chain after the first paragraph)... ...and the resulting picture. Finally, here is my own unique solution to the backlog of beef and wine in the European Union by 'releasing it' onto a third-world country: * Neither of these are included in the collection. **Note that 'Patricia Hewitt' was then the Health Secretary, and Gordon Brown was then Chancellor of the Exchequer. ---------- Adapted from the CSA Forum version, first posted 18th July 07.

To be honest I must have been very bored with politics when I had the idea to draw that, and make an essay on why it's ruining the CAP.

I was going to censor the whole thing, but I wondered if anyone would notice. Nobody mentioned the acronym 'QC', though. That's right, for the purposes of that essay, I'm a member of the 'Queen's Council' (ie, a lawyer).

Ahhh, The US had a case of stagflation in the 80's. Good thing I wasn't born yet!

Indeed. It's got horns AND it breaths fire. It'll skewer you THEN roast you.
