COIN gained decisive majority again
The third elections have ended in our region, bringing success for the Communist Organization of International Nations again. Former Head Senator Deutschgarten - enjoying complete support from the voters - won against lately inactive NCA-member Neo Nibu and gained the High Judge position.
Silvado was followed by Automaticz as Head of Defense. The founder of the region defeated the only independent nominee of this elections, Kaleckton. Both Silvado and Automaticz are COIN members.
Despite the efforts of the government, there wasn't enough interest toward the elections in the region, thus Debro and Archaix gained the Head Delegate and the Head Senator posts without competition, as well as Kaleckton the Head of International Relations post. Kaleckton was also appointed to the Head of Recruitment sub-office.
During the elections, Debro proposed the amendment of the II.Law(Order of Elections), which proposal was approved by the senate. The legislation states that candidates appointed without opposition are considered as acting officials, thus any member of the region can call for an interim election during their term.
The crisis is over;the region is stronger than ever.
The previous issue of the Monthly Leftist reported that the region's decreasing population was put on distressing levels. In less than a month the situation changed completely due to the Summer Recruiting Campaign initiated by Head Delegate Debro. The goal of the campaign -50 nations - was reached before the end of the summer. The newspaper asked High Judge Deutschgarten, who has contributed a lot to the success of the campaign.
Monthly Leftist:You've taken part in the Summer Recruitment Campaign. What was your motivation, and what do you think, was it successful? What would be the desirable - or optimal - population of the region? Deutschgarten:Our lack of activeness was and still is a big problem in the region. I guess, I was motivated to keep our region alive and strong. The recruitment campaign was very successful. We now have 45 nations and I think that is an amazing feat for just under a month's work.In my opinion I'd like to see our nation in the 70's. That way even if only 33% are active on the board then we have about 25 voters. ML:In your speech, you've mentioned that you would propose a law which would turn the Head of Recruitment position to an electable one. Do you have other plans with the legislature? DG:Yes, recently the issue of admin powers and who should get them has risen. I plan to come up with a plan to decide who gets admin powers and who doesn't. ML:Why have you choosen the High Judge post? That's a quite "passive" position... DG:Well, if you remember High Judge was the first post I ever ran for and never won. And I'm not one to give up. |
Apart from the recruitment, the COIN-led government tried to increase the activity in the region, by sending out telegrams, drafting a needed forum guide, and extending the diplomatic ties.
Reformed RPG
Kaleckton - former RPG-chief and statesman of The Lexicon region - has choosen International Nations as his new home. After introduced himself, Kaleckton quickly became the RPG-chief of the region, bringing new life to the region's role play. The opinions on the new system vary from person to person;Archaix and Neo Nibu liked the old system better, while most of the new members and Debro welcomed the changes. Kaleckton is still developing the features, and encourages all members of the region to take part in the regional role play.
Also, Kaleckton was the biggest surprise of the elections, taking both the Head of Recruitment and the Head of International Relations posts. The Monthly Leftist asked him about his plans.
Monthly Leftist:You're new to the region, but you've quickly became one of the most active and determinative members. What was your first impression about the region? Kaleckton:Well I here and I just began to start loving it. Then I decided I'll do my best to make this forum as active as possible and I always strive to do my very best. ML:You're the new RPG-chief. Are you satisfied with the reform of the RPG-system or are you planning more changes? K.:I will be making more changes, adding alot more rules. I want to keep the Roleplay easy for anyone to go through and easy for a newcomer to just come in and start. when I first came in i was lost on what was going on best the forum for the roleplay was just a mess. I'm trying to keep it like this to make sure anyone an jump in easily. ML:Would you share your plans regarding the recruitment with the readers of the Monthly Leftist? K.:Sorry currently I am just making my plans and seeing what would work. I am looking for recruiters who are willing to send a minimal of 50 invites a day |
The formation of the Neo Conservative Association
Despite the second political organization of the region, the members don't know much about the NCA. As the name suggest, the NCS will probably represent the right-wing opposition to the COIN, altrough particular details weren't released by the party. The association were formed by former delegate Neo Nibu and a new member, TWWK(known as Sad Ni Ku in NationStates). Your leftist newspaper tried to find out the party's intentions, by asking TWWK.
Monthly Leftist:You're one of the newest - and active - member of the region, and right after your arrival, the NCA was formed. What do you think, what will be the future of the new party? Do you have any plans? TWWK:At this point, the NCA is looking to simply strengthen itself and gain membership. In the near future, we expect to publish a newspaper. Other activities, I'm sure, will also be forthcoming. ML:You are involved in the regional RPG,too. Are you satisfied with the new system or would you welcome more changes? TWWK:I am enjoying the new system, thus far. There may be too many new sub boards, however. I think that as we get used to the system, we'll naturally be able to find out what works and what doesn't. I'm am, however, very grateful to the new RPG board administrator for putting everything together. ML:What's your opinion - in general - about the region? What potentials do you see in it? TWWK:The region has a lot of potential. Active members here enjoy one another's company. I am hopeful that this region will continue to expand. I left briefly to join a much larger region that has an amazing group of members and a terrific message board - I hope that someday, we can reach that level. However, I am glad and thankful to be here, and I hope that I can help the region continue to grow. |
Foreign news and legislature
The provincehood of the Socialist Laborers Union was approved both by the IN senate and by the new province. The SLU is a small, but active region, two of their members already joined our forum.
The alliance between our region and the Alliance of Socialist States were approved by the AoSS. Sadly, this region and the International Communist Union is quite inactive.
Recent elections showed us again that our legislature must be reformed in order to satisfy the region's need. The lack of interest toward the elections pointed out that the constitutional reform is the most important task of the new cabinet, and the new Head Senator - Archaix - will play an important role in these as the interview above shows.
Monthly Leftist:We can refer to you as an "IN-veteran",but until the recent elections, you haven't run for any office. Was a paricular reason behind this? Archaix:Apart from the fact that being the president of a region is perhaps more than enough work for NS, I was anxious not to appear to be taking control of two regions. ML:As a head senator, do you have any plans with the legislature? A.:I am keen on standardizing governmental positions and voting periods, but my official stance, for the time being, will be muted until I can fully publish my thoughts. ML:You're the ambassador and the president of the CSA. What do you think, can the two regions cooperate more closely? A.:I most certainly do -IN and the regional Communist Party (COIN) are among the most valuable allies the CSA has, and we already have excellent relations. We will be sure to keep in contact, and perhaps endevour to include at least the COIN in our interregional schemes. ML:One of the biggest project of the CSA is the creation of a broad leftist inter-regional front between the leftist regions. What's the current situation? Would this leftist "front" invite our region? A.:Delegates are still discussing terms and the structure of the Grand Alliance, so the answer to this question is unknown. However, I would assume that the COIN, not IN as a whole, would be able to join, since IN is not fundamentally leftist. |
Culture
After the success of the Penguin Ninjas, Archaix and Debro decided that they launch another story, the "Achtung Partisanen!". The editor of the story is Archaix. The story is still in his infancy, anyone can contribute to the World War II based story which is rich in penguins - again. Kaleckton has also began his fantasy, with the name of Kalecktonian Wars.
From now on, the monthly leftist will pick the funniest picture of the month. The winner for this month is Deutschgarten, and his picture:
COIN News
