Right, so I just made this thread not to expand upon the CIW, seeing my Stats is already choked full of it. THIS thread is basically an introduction to the puppetmaster, so basically my ideas on my country and how I see it. In short, this is a behind-the-scenes look.
I would be delighted to hear comments about this
First off, the CIW draws inspiration from the following sources:
- The Confederacy of Independant Systems (from Star Wars)- Count Sudooku (a portmanteau of Dooku and sudoku) and General Grevious (Grievous rhyming with devious) are parodies of Count Dooku and General Grievous. The former names of my mechanized vehicles (the Stap, H-aat and MulTro transport) are based in name and function off of the STAP, AAT and MTT. The Geonos fighter's name is also based off of Geonosians. When the country was under Sudooku's rule too, military and economic power of the CIS were mirrored by the CIW. You can even see it in the name and flag, that the CIW and CIS were intended to be incredibly similar.
- Isengard (Lord of the Rings)- This one isn't that old yet, as well as less prominent, but you can see it in my beloved avatar (coolest picture of Saruman that I know). It's also seen in Sudooku's brother Curunir (Curunir being an Elven name for Saruman; this is also a reference to the fact that Christopher Lee played as both) and the Warg tank (an armored raiding vehicle) based off of the Warg Riders. Isengard's militarism can also be seen in the CIW.
- Holland/ the Netherlands/ the Dutch- Slightly in the background: I've begun to take influences from Holland when the CIW became a democracy. Which is why Prime Minister was the highest-ranking post at first. My New World ideals are also based off of the Dutch method, as well as, more recently, on the mainland. CIW naval power, as well as being a maritime nation is also based off of Golden-Age Holland. Additionally the name of the Nassaur tank is based of the Nassau halberdier, and Age of Empires III unit and the name of my armored car based of the Carabineer, an upgrade for the Dutch Ruyter.
- France- I'm slightly Francophile, so this is how France entered my inspiration. Despite this, it's bit obscure; I had no idea how the CIW government worked, so I based it off of the French model- with a President who is well know and a Prime Minister under him/her, who in reality does most of the work. The CIW Union for a Popular Movement (UPM; a conservative party) is a direct translation of the French counterpart, the UMP (think Sarkozy and Chirac). My General Philip Petin is also a mirror of how I believe the controversial Philippe Pétain should have been. I personally believe that in WWII, he wanted to protect France, but was not able to for several reasons.
- Lego Bionicle- Omnipresent, yet shallow. Most names in my RP are Bionicle ones, because I like the foreign sounding of them. The Kardas Dragon is a real-life Bionicle model (and pretty big too!), and Vayzon is heavily based off of the insane character Vezon. Other than that, it isn't seen much.
How I RP with the CIW
With the CIW, I try to be original in the sense that no character is normal- they all have their quirks. You can safely say that all CIW people are eccentric in their own way. All main characters are basically melodramatic (Sudooku being the typical old aristocrat, Vayzon's sanity being questionable, Grevious having a markedly short temper, and Kopaka being unsocial to the bone). These informalities and oddities are, what I believe, make my RP amusing to read.
You might see that my country is reluctant to enter wars; quite contrary to the Isengard and CIS influence. This is because I'm a bit chicken when it comes to that (at least I'm honest). When I'm convinced to enter war, it's often too late to do anything. This would explain my reluctance with the Teivo-Kazzer-Aegypto conflict.
Under Sudooku (can be classified as a Benevolent Dictator), the CIW balanced between Environment, Military and Education. The country could be unscrupulously capitilistic, in the sense of having no conscience and allying with dictators. This is naturally based from the CIS, and even now I let that happen because Vayzon's conservative. It also keeps the old dictatorial spirit alive.
Under Vayzon, it's the usual modern democracy with some Sudookuist tendencies, but then again, Vayzon was a member of Sudooku's elite. That trio of Sudooku, Vayzon and Grevious remains influential.
