Hello my friends this is your ambassador Epernicus here to give you the update on the happenings of New Sorvurn. We hope you enjoy this wonderful newspaper update created by Likako the editor in chief. Hope all is going well and I'm glad to see your region's recent growth.

Regional News

Election News

Aug 30th-- The Presidential Election, one that was thought to be a close one, turned out to be just the opposite with Kenfeia (NSSP) taking 78.6% of the votes against Likako (PNP).

Election Results:
Kenfeia (NSSP) 11 (78.6%)
Likako (PNP) 3 (21.4%)

Despite Likako's heavy loss, he still keeps his fervor towards the betterment of the region:

Likako's Concession Speech: "I know my popularity has waned over the past couple of months and I hoped that by campaigning and running for President that I could boost my popularity once again and become the next President to lead our region into greatness. However, It became clear early in the election that it was not meant to be, but I have know doubt that Kenfeia will do an excellent job, and I, as Prime Minister, look forward to working with him. Last term we had some external problems (i.e. RF) but this time it seems we have some internal problems and we need to focus on these..."

Sept 6th-- With Kenfeia's victory, it left a seat open in the Senate, and two people made a mad rush, and those people are Karputsk, who rejoined the Progressive Nationalist Party, and Roy Mustang, who recently became active from the New Sorvun Democratic Party. There hasn't been a Democrat in the Senate since Sudako in the second Senate, and that statement continues to be true as Karputsk won the seat in a close election, resulting in the Progressive Nationalists gaining the majority once again with four Pro-Nats and two Socialists, and that does not include the Prime Minister's seat.

Election Results:
Karputsk (PNP) 7 (58.3%)
Roy Mustang (NSDP) 5 (41.7%)

Despite Roy Mustang's loss, his activeness has caught the eye of Prime Minister Likako, who appointed him as the second Attorney General of New Sorvun. The Attorney General position has been either empty or inactive in the past, but now that the Justice Department is becoming more prevalent as seen in the CTL case and two ongoing cases an active Attorney General is needed to be sure defendants are getting the representation they are privileged, as Citizens, to have.

Sept 25-- The election for Regional Assembly representatives in the FRA was a close one. Incumbent Likako (PNP) has lost out against Foolands (NSSP) by one vote. Karputsk (PNP) takes Azlyn's seat uncontested since Azlyn had resigned from the FRA government.

Election Results:
Karputsk (PNP) 8 (42.1%)
Foolands (NSSP) 6 (31.6%)
Likako (PNP) 5 (26.3%)

However, Likako has asked one of the two new representatives to nominate him for the Foreign Affairs Minister, so he can still be active in the FRA government.

Sept 27-- The election season seems to start earlier and earlier. Sign ups are already beginning for the next Senate and Prime Minister elections. However, the issue is that there are eight Senates seats and so far only eight candidates has stood up. Similarly, only one Prime Minister candidate has stood up. Many are concerned that these elections will not be democratic. Epernicus, a Progressive Nationalist candidate, has offered up the idea of staggering the elections, while fellow Pro-Nat, Karputsk has suggested simply cutting the size of the Senate in half. Likako likes the idea of staggering elections and has offered to write the legislation on Epernicus' behalf, but he has his own idea of slowing the rate of expansion by half, but only after the Senate has reached ten seats, so it is more of a race to the Parliament for Likako and Karputsk as they both have amendments. However, the question now is if both get approved which one gets prevalance?

Proposed:
Expansion Rate Amendment Proposed by Likako. If approved, this will continue the current rate of expansion until the Senate reaches ten seats, then it is slowed to half its current rate.

Expansion Reduction Amendment Proposed by Karputsk. If approved, this will reduce the Senate's current size from eight seats to four.

Passed:
The Disclosure Act Proposed by Likako. This act has gained unanimous approval in the Senate, and has been signed by President Kenfeia.
New Sorvunese Flag proposal Proposed by Tsruhkwah. The flag was designed by Sudako A. It was approved unanimously in Joint Sessions.
Embassy Request for the region the Black Hawks proposed by Foolands on behalf of TBH ambassador red back. Passed with 6 yays and 3 nays in Joint Sessions.
All Cabinet Appointments made by Prime Minister Likako has been approved by the Parliament.

Failed:
Veto Override Proposed by Likako, the veto override was in response to then President La America vetoing the Census Enforcement Act that Likako had proposed despite gaining the necessary majority in the Parliament. This proposal was killed in Joint Sessions as it did not gain the necessary majority.
Treaty Transference Proposed by Likako, vetoed by President Kenfeia. The proposal had met the necessary majority with 5 yays and 1 nay, but President Kenfeia vetoed because of United Commonwealth's inactivity. This proposal was killed in Joint Sessions by veto.
Vice Senator Bill Proposed by Liberela, This proposal was killed in the National Assembly with 0 yays and 3 nays.
Embassy Approval for United Commonwealth Proposed by Likako, vetoed by President Kenfeia, citing the region being plagued with inactivity. This proposal was killed in Joint Sessions by veto.

Court News

Aug 30th-- Likako charges Azlyn with First Degree Espionage and First Degree Treason.
Aug 31th-- the People v. Farage case has been suspended so Farage can represent Azlyn in the People v. Azlyn case.
Sept 1st-- Opening statements have been made by both councilors.
Sept 19th-- Court Justice La America has called a recess due to problems accessing the forum
Oct 5th-- Court Justice La America has put the court into it's second recess.

Aug 28-- Falconias, Deputy Chief of Defence, announces that Thandryn of New Sorvun is a spy from The European Empire:

Falconias: "We know him to be from New Sorvun however, he is in fact an agent from The European Empire, beyond a reasonable doubt and this case is all but closed.

To those concerned about our security, do not worry as he did not have access to any sensitive information, only the Barracks, and has since been stripped of his rank and access to the Ranger Barracks removed. All in all, he was not successful in spying.

Let this be a lesson to those other invaders I sure will read this message, who are stupid enough to try and spy on our organization. We will find you eventually if we haven't found you already. We have the best intelligence department in the game."

Falconias has agreed to testify in the trial held in Thandryn's region of residence, New Sorvun.

Pope Lexus X, Regional Development Minister, has announced his retirement:

Pope Lexus X Retirement Speech: "I am retiring from the FRA, before I even return properly to my position. I've been a defender for 4 years, and part of the FRA just a few months after it was founded, but I'm just not interested in it now as I was then. This isn't as a result of any disagreements over people or policies, it is entirely selfish, I am bored. I need to have a change of scenery so I'm going to move off somewhere else.

With regards to the development department, I apologise a thousand times for leaving it. I had very high hopes, but you need someone who is enthusiastic about both the FRA and the department to lead it now."

Many FRA members have expressed their best wishes for him, and hope of his return some day.

Sept 18th-- Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Drop Your Pants, has announced retirement:

Drop Your Pants' Retirement Speech: "Yes its a horrible topic title but its kinda true. I'm cutting down the amount of time i spend online so that means i won't be around in the FRA as much. I'll stay a ranger and mod the Nightlife but thats it really.

I was chatting with sedge and we worked out i never did anything worthwhile in a political sense, but i had a lot of fun and mate people laugh....so its all good I think sedge will be taking over RD and i'm sorry to TM to leave him hanging.

The reason: I'm getting very stressed out these days, job hunting for full time work is a part of it. Another is the fact my lovelife is in major trouble and one of my friends has (and will again) attempted suicide. So an online game takes a back seat to this.

Sorry for running for a position and leaving, I'll try to be around as much as i can."

The FRA gives another heartfelt salute to the man that made them laugh all these years.

Sept 21st-- Northern Chittowa has announced his retirement:
Northern Chittowa's Retirement Speech: "Well then,

I guess this wont come as a surprise to most of you, but I have decided to finally pack it all in and retire from the FRA and NS in general.

Theres a few reasons for this really. For one, ive decided i had better do some work at Uni this year if I am to get anything from it and as a result I cant really keep focusing my time on an internet game. The second reason is that I have become decidedly bored of NS. It no longer motivates me in the way it did. I find checking in to be more of a chore than something fun, and have done that for a while now. Since I stopped checking in so often I have actually started doing a lot more and its made me realise that theres more to do than just sitting in front of a laptop.

Ive enjoyed every moment of my time in NS, and im almost certain I will be pulled back in one day, but only time will tell If people need me they can always catch me on MSN or email me, ill get back to you as soon as I can.

Former New Sorvun Representative Likako: "Now we come to it at last: The Retirement Era. An era where the oldest and seemingly most important and influencial figures leave us behind for something more fulfilling. It is always saddening to see such things, and all of us wish it doesn't happen, and some may wonder how can we move forward with out people like NC, DYP and PL, but I doubt they would want us to remain in mourning, but instead continue forward making this a better place in honor of these people and their legacies. I will surely do that. I bid you farewell, sir!"

Aug 28th-- Turlmanistan has resigned from his position as the Senator from the Northern District, and does not plan to run again. Minister of Education Torchevan has retired and thus left the position open.
Sept 13th-- The Delegate Election is starting up soon.
Oct 2nd-- Former Delegate Biain the First (DCAPCOMR) has won the election for the Northern District Senator position. The Delegate Election has begun.

Technotopia News

Sept 22nd-- Alistaire has called for a cutting of ties with long-time ally New Sorvun:

Alistaire: "New Sorvun has dissapointed us by not responding to my request for them to help fill our forums with activity. My post there titled "An appeal" was totally ignored. At least if they were too busy or couldnt help out they could have said so. By not responding officially to our request, they have indicated contempt for our region and relations."

However, many of the government officials of New Sorvun reply that the request in question was not noticed until after Alistaire made his fuss about it:

Likako, Prime Minister of New Sorvun: "Your request first of all was (in my opinion) improperly titled. How are we suppose to know what "an appeal" meant? (I thought when I first saw it it was about some court business your region had had, so I ignored it) and second, if you felt that the request was being ignored you could have made a post on our Cbox or send a PM to Foolands, myself or our President instead of making a once-over and hoping we respond."
However, despite Likako's attempt to solve the problem, it was not meant to be as Alistaire demanded Karputsk to apologize for making some condemning remarks towards Technotopia:

Alistaire: "I should like you to apologise for your language and refrain from making any further potentially damaging comments, failing which I should ask Likako to direct you to make such an apology.

To which Karputsk replied:

Karputsk's Response: " You expect me to apologise? That's not going to happen, and if I am asked to by my fellow New Sorvunites I'll still refuse.

I don't condemn your region, I condemn your running of the region. The only person here who is halting progress is you Alastaire. "

To which Likako added:

Likako: "I know Karputsk, and I'm not going to ask him to apologize, not because I think his conduct was appropriate but because that would be against my principles as our region holds freedom of speech as a precious commodity."

However, it seemed that didn't help matters as Alistaire then on September 28th he called for the suspension of relations between the two regions. The New Sorvun government is in the works of making a similar move as it has to pass such moves through the Parliament first.

The Senate: New vs Old or Green vs Purple?[/color]

Oct 10th-- This election season started off with a bang as Senate elections began. Due to an approved measure to reduce the size of the Senate, the originally unexciting race turned into a hot campaign with new faces like Narbonia (NSSP), The Great Sufu (NSSP), and Epernicus (PNP) answering the call to serve the region. It was a battle between veteran wisdom and experience versus new ideals and innovation, it was also a battle between the two largest political parties in New Sorvun. The New Sorvun Socialist Party and the Progressive Nationalist Party fought fervently for control of the Senate as it would decide who would become the next Prime Minister as each party had a candidate running for the Prime Ministership.

Oct 20th-- A run-off election, the first in New Sorvun history to be completed without one candidate conceding, between Liberela (NSSP) and Epernicus (PNP) was fierce as both candidates being relatively new, with Liberela only having one term of experience in the senate. In the final week of the run-off election each of them made efforts to point out the differences against the other:

Epernicus' Campaign Speech: "Today we sit in a precarious situation with two qualified candidates battling for the final spot. It has been a long and hard race and I commend my opponent for his hard work. I also wish to offer my thanks to everyone who offered their support to me. I want to convey my views to all of you who are still undecided in this run-off to show you why I believe I am the better candidate for this job.

Liberela has served a term in the Senate but that does not give reason to elect him again. As we have seen in this election the people have asked for change. Sufu and Narbonia both newcomers were elected over others who have been here longer and that is a clear sign of things to come. The region is ready for a change from the faces we are used to seeing and willing to accept some new ideas. While there is no doubt that Liberal is qualified and has shown this I want all of you to consider something. How is it possible to know the merit of a candidate who has been untested? It is very difficult because most people tend to retreat to something they already know. But my friends sometimes in life there has to be risks taken, sometimes there has to be a voice who calls for change, sometimes there has to be new faces where the old ones once stood. Now is that time.

My ideas have been made clear various times. I am loyal to New Sorvun and I have made it clear that I am willing to work with all parties. I will cross party lines and vote against everyone if I think that it is in the best interest of New Sorvun. Also I am willing to work with anyone despite their ideology in working on ideas to best help New Sorvun advance into the future. The vote is in your hands my friends and want you all to know that no matter the outcome I will continue serving New Sorvun now and always."

Liberela's Campaign Speech: "I today commend all candidates in the senate election for such a clean and good campaign season!

I thank everyone who got me to this stage. Now this contest is different to most as new factors come to work. These are experience and change. Now today Epernicus said that he is new and that there is no reason to vote me cos he is new. He is 100% correct that you shouldn't just vote for what is familiar and that change can be good. But today I want to say that just because I'm experienced it doesn't mean I can't help aid and cause change. In fact I believe it helps me to do so more as I have experienced situations Epernicus hasn't and that can help me understand the implications of policies. The fact is those experiences have helped us learn, learn how to react to those situations should they arise again. The FGE war and RF situation although they were handled pretty well could have been handled better. I have the hindsight and experience to handle some of these along with the other people from that period, for instance we know now to ignore when we are being antagonised for a reaction and to get better military organisation and a more stable military if we have to go to war. These are all things we don't know if Epernicus has experienced.

My strength is that I stand up for what I believe in and campaign for change even though it may not be in my political advantage(Vice senator bill). I am 100% devoted to New Sorvun and will be willing to propose almost anything if I believe it is in New Sorvuns interests as if the idea wasn't presented it couldn't be voted on denyig you the chance to either vote it down or vote it into the constitution. With me you get a package of experience and change and the willingness to go against the system if need be. What you see of me is what you'll get. If you don't like my proposals vote it down but at least you had the choice, if you don't like me vote me out but at least you had the chance.

I like to give you choice!

I will cross party lines if its in New Sorvuns interest but firmly believe in NSSP values as in our constitution!

In short I am the candididate with the most experience who also stands for choice,change if need be, devotion and for the people!

On election day consider the package cos I think you should look at everyones package. Don't vote me just cos I'm experienced, vote for me cos you think I'm right for the region and if you don't think that don't. Do what you feel is right!

Remember I stand for choice!

A vote for Liberela is a vote for New Sorvun!"

This was a close election, but in the end it was Epernicus (PNP) who managed to claim victory with the results as follows:

Senate Run-off Election Results (Seat 6):

Epernicus (PNP) 9 (52.9%)
Liberela (NSSP) 8 (47.1%)

After the dust was settled, the both battles in the Senate came out to a draw. With three veteran Senators including Tsruhkwah who is now sitting on his fourth term as Senator, and three fresh Senators. The Pro-Nats and Socialists break even as well with three each.[/color]

The Prime Ministry: Sticks and Stones...and Mud!

Oct 14th-- The campaigns for Prime Minister were started with incumbent Likako (PNP) running for his third term against Renewed Life (NSSP) and an unexpected candidate Aiuria ®. Aiuria had recently been granted citizenship despite her crimes against New Sorvun and in a bid to prove herself, she tossed her name in for the Prime Minister race. However, this particular campaign season was undoubtedly one of the dirtiest in New Sorvun history as all three candidates made a few statements each that were considered "below the belt". It all started as Socialist candidate Renewed Life started asking questions concerning "inconsistencies" in the Constitution:

Excerpt from Renewed Life's statement: "...
I don't claim it's weak or outdated, more that it could be better, and I want to be in a position to coordinate that effort. I feel it's owed to New Sorvun, so rapidly expanding, that it have a clear and elegant core document. And right now, though I feel the current Constitution suffices and is moreover a tremendous effort, that should never be forgotten, and has seen this Region through a lot, it could be improved upon, and indeed must before further issues arise concerning the document. I was one man, and yet I found so many issues in about fifteen minutes of solid critiquing? This is not good. Reform is needed, and I want to be part of the effort to address the issues I feel are quite pressing in that document.


Instantly Likako (PNP) responded like this:

Likako's response: "You have yet to ask for any clarification or help on the meaning of a particular line in the Constitution (or the Constitution as a whole), and you just look at it, say to yourself, "I don't get it, let's change it!" without understanding the possible consequences. I mean no offense, but I've seen the constitutions you wrote before, and as I said the last time we had this discussion, they are filled with loopholes, unclear and sometimes contradictory statements (sometimes back to back) Hadn't been for Americana's amendment to the last incarnation of the CoN's Constitution the President would have had a lot of power in both executive and legislative branches...the fact of the matter is, you can't go about changing things because "I think this is better", because chances are it won't be (not you personally, but in general), but if you know and understand all the possible outcomes and how to prepare for them then you can make marvelous legislation, that not only has the formal appeal that gives the legislation (regardless of the atmosphere at which the legislation is created) a sense of officiality and impressiveness, but actually works to the benefit of the region."

To which Renewed Life responded:

Renewed Life's response: "And of course you can do that by criticizing me and ensuring your chances of reelection. Instead of, you know, utilizing the powers you already have to actually do these things, and commenting on that.

I think your point was "He doesn't know squat about what he's doing, so you better vote for me, because I won't try to even mess with it!". Correct me if I'm wrong, of course. But I'm rather amused. "

Oct. 20th-- While Renewed Life and Likako argued in a spiralling whirlpool of mud tossing "no offenses" out like sweets in an ever-souring vat of vinegar, upon announcement of her pledge for the PM office, Aiuria made this campaign ad:

Aiuria's First Campaign ad: "So you say you want a Prime Minister Election? The future of this office is your hands, New Sorvun. But weigh the facts:

It is time to end the partisan problems in government. Constantly, members of the Progressive Nationalist, Socialist and Democratic parties are bickering over some of the most trivial issues. President Kenfeia, thankfully, has pretty much stayed out of the fray, but you know politicians, they'll get caught up in anything..

Prime Minister Likako, the incumbent and a Progressive Nationalist has been an effective Prime Minister, but he's been in government too long. Perhaps some fresh blood, such as the blood run in during the Senate election is an order? Likako is too argumentative and is trying to influence the Presidency.

On the other hand you have Renewed Life, a well-respected Socialist who has served in the executive branch in other regions. He has also served as our High Commander and we thank him for his service to our region. But, good people, do you know that he has quit the NationStates three times? Twice here in New Sorvun, partly because he didn't get his way. Now do you want a quitter and a whiner as Prime Minister?

Aiuria, our good leader, though her name has been marred by recent issues. is a force for change. She promises a calmer New Sorvun, put domestic issues above foreign issues, and make New Sorvun the premiere region of NationStates.

Vote Aiuria, Vote Republican."

While the three continued to throw just about everything at each other it took the words of newly-elected Senator Epernicus (PNP) to snap them out of this dangerous turn of events:

Epernicus' Statement: "This is incredibly perturbing. It is amazing to think at times that one of you three will be the Prime Minister of our region. If I have a chance to vote it will be difficult to choose when I see what childish tactics are being employed. Attacking other people's character is just tasteless and while Aiuria may have done it first you could have been the bigger person Renewed and shown how that just proves how unqualified Aiuria is. Also this bickering between Renewed and Likako is shameful I understand a hard campaign battle but this is ridiculous at the moment if I am elected I will have trouble choosing because no one is impressing me with these tactics quite the opposite I find them despicable and utterly tasteless. I don't care who started what first I care about who is big enough to look past it. "

After which, Likako apologized for his actions:

Likako's Apology: "...Yesterday I was in a bad mood and it didn't help to see these kinds of attacks during campaign season, and unfortunately I went right along with them trying to regain order, but it was only making me madder and more aggressive, and for that I apologize to my opponents and the people of New Sorvun. One comment I must make though is that these elections are very serious as they will determine the fate of the region for the next three months and it is not the place for humor, and it was part of the reason why I became so disgruntled yesterday. It's all well and good to have fun, but don't waste campaign space and hijack topics. Now, lets get back on the right track, clean up our campaigns, and have an election that is marked with insight and competitiveness not slander and smeer tactics."

Though not as lengthy, Aiuria also apologized for her actions:

Aiuria's Apology: "My apologies for any offenses. I'll try to be a bit more civil in my next advertisement. Again, sorry for any offense I made in that speech."

Shortly thereafter, Debates were held. Questions were asked and not one speck of mud was thrown up.

Nov 3rd--

Prime Minister Election Results:

Likako (PNP) 4 (66.7%)
Renewed Life (NSSP) 2 (33.3%)
Aiuria ® 0 (0.00%)

With those results it puts Likako in his third term as Prime Minister, which is longest time any one person has held an executive position so far in New Sorvun's history. However, there were some concerns that partisan loyalty would drag the elections out, but one Socialist made it clear that he doesn't vote along party lines for loyalty sake:

The Great Sufu: "Well I voted for Likako, so there really isn't party loyalty. I want someone who is active, and I just happen to agree with you. "[/color]

Election Misstep: Can Two Wrongs Make a Right?

Oct 26th-- During the course of this election season it was discovered there had been error made during the President election, in that it was discovered it was held one month early, and there was a debate over what was the best way to correct it. The main concern was although the Constitution had unintentionally been broken, should the Parliament intentionally break the Constitution to fix the problem? However, that concern was abated when Likako brought forth this course of action:

Likako's solution: "...Or have Kenfeia with four months, the PM being interim president for one month then have the election on Jan 15th as it was originally scheduled. The latter is more constitutionally sound, but I'd only do it if the people agree to it.

...In fact, now that I think about the second option, that I suggested in my last post, seems the most sensible and legal. For two reasons:

1.)Though we may have accidentally broken the law, when we jumped the gun, that doesn't mean we have to break it further to fix the problem. If we keep Kenfeia for the required four months, then have the Prime Minister become the Interim President in December, then the elections can be held as they were originally scheduled before we jumped the gun.

2.)The main reason. No further rules are broken eliminating the existence of a uneasy precedent.

Currently the proposal is in Joint Sessions waiting for approval by the Parliament. If this proposal is passed, this will be the first time that the Parliament had to call a special election, and will be second time that the Prime Minister had to act as Interim President.[/color]

Proposed: Special Elections Proposal, authored by Likako (made in Joint Sessions on Nov 3rd).
Senate Floor: New Sorvun Market Addendum, authored by Likako. This, if passed, will implement a market system in the region in hopes to stimulate activity and attract new Citizens.
Passed: Constitutional Amendment Authored by Karputsk, this amendment reduced the current Senate from eight seats to six and slowed the expansion rate from 10 people per seat to 15 people per seat. This passed unanimously on October 12th, 2008.
Soviet Confederation Embassy Approval Proposed by Tsruhkwah, this approved the establishment of an embassy for the region of Soviet Confederation. This passed unanimously on October 25, 2008.
Cutting Ties with Technotopia Authored by Foolands, this approved the cutting of diplomatic ties with the region of Technotopia. This passed with 6 yays and 1 abstention on October 23, 2008
Founder's Day Authored by Karputsk, this will establish December 16th as a regional holiday. This has passed unanimously and awaits presidential approval.[/color]

Not so Fast![/color]

Oct 21st-- The People V. Renewed Life case has begun. Renewed Life has been charged with Violation of Article III, Section 1. Part D of the Constitution after making the following statement:

Renewed Life's Statement: "I'm taking temporary control of the NSMF because I feel that the present government has not adequately maintained it. I will be holding the position of, and acting as High Military Commander. I am, of course, subordinate to Kenfeia, our President.

With these powers I will aim to restore the NSMF to it's former level of activity and further attempt to surpass that."


This is the first case when the Attorney General (Roy Mustang) has actively participated as an attorney in New Sorvun history.

Oct 24th-- During the People V. Azlyn case, sedge, Arch-Chancellor of the FRA, made a comment that caused an uproar concerning FRA's seemingly unwillingness to cooperate in the case, while the exact words couldn't be obtained, sedge had said that, in effect, that the New Sorvunee court was a sham. Staunch Pro-Nat Tsruhkwah and others brought up the possibility of withdrawing from the FRA because of this during Question Time in Joint Sessions:

Tsruhkwah's Question: "One for the President. How do you plan to react to the total snub of our region by the FRA Arch-Chancellor?"

President Kenfeia's Response: "I don't believe that was a very wise move for a "diplomat" to be making. And it basically made it seem that if our supreme court doesn't find Azlyn to be guilty then we shall not be on good terms with them. Regional sovereignty I place above everything so I found it to be quite rude to be honest. I will like to talk to sedge about this issue and if things don't work out, well it will appear that New Sorvun must go its own way."

Prime Minister Likako tries to contain the situation:

Prime Minister Likako's response: "I feel that I must respond. Firstly, I am talking it over with sedge about this situation, so let me handle it, please. Secondly, you also must understand, just as we have sovereignty, the FRA has sovereignty as well, and we shouldn't expect them to overturn their decision unless there is compelling proof of Azlyn's innocence. I think what sedge is referring to is that he doesn't want Azlyn to be acquitted due to a technicality, and I can understand that, because if the allegations are true, then wouldn't you also be upset if he got off due to a technicality?"

But almost immediately Tsruhkwah, a fellow Pro-Nat, asked the Prime Minister this:

Tsruhkwah Question to Prime Minister Likako: "One for you Likako. What happens if Sedge refuses to apologise to New Sorvun? Will you be willing to give up your prestigious position as FRA foreign minister and support New Sorvun pulling out of the alliance?"

Likako's Response: "Firstly,
Need I remind you that this is a region that believes in free speech. That sedge shouldn't be forced to apologize if he said something you think he should apologize for.

Secondly,
With that said, I will not because we seem to be making a double standard. Everytime we go to someone elses forums/rmb we speak our mind then get upset when the native region demands an apology, and yet here we are trying to do the same thing that simply a matter of opinion, that does not reflect the entire view of the FRA. "

Tsruhkwah didn't buy it and followed up with this:

Tsruhkwah's follow-up "Obviously Sedge is refusing to apologise for insulting us, so you're trying to stop talk of leaving the FRA by accusing anyone who suggests it of supressing rights of free speech.

I guess that's a no to being willing to give up your position as FRA MoFA then?"

The two argued back and forth, with Likako steadily loosing ground sticking to the "freedom of speech" line, then suddenly sedge made a short but a much need apology, which brought the issue to an end, and the FRA is currently still cooperating with the case.[/color]

Nov 10th-- The FRA has come under scrutiny when the region Central Europe, who just joined the FRA one week prior, was invaded by The West Pacific, The Black Hawks, One Big Island Mercs and receiving assistance from Gatesville and other regions. Leader of Central Europe, Cardinal Ximenez made this statement on the region's RMB:

Cardinal Ximenez's statement "Announcement to all invader forces:

I have formerly announced to the FRA commander our immediate withdrawal from the organisation. We were told that there was no real war between Gatesville and FRA and that Gatesville was sending empty threads to new members of FRA. I foolishly believed them.

As the situation proves, this has been proven to be false and today we can all see the consequences in the current situation.

Our sole intent of seeking FRA membership was to appeal to this organisation to give us protection against rogue invaders. We're at peace with all major regions of Nationstates, and we wish to remain so. If this alliance is only going to bring us war and suffering, we have no option but to surrender it. That's exactly the opposite of what we intended with the alliance.

We don't want to be a theatre of operations for the FRA and your enemies. Thus, we're withdrawing from FRA and hoping that this announcement will send all FRA enemies (but not ours) away.

I know I haven't spoken to everyone is this storied region but now I must speak for myself and on behalf of everybody. This is the only option we have left to save Central Europe.

In other news, Neasmyrna has come to a preliminary agreement to merge with the region The True Revolution. In that agreement they will send two representatives as senators, however their nations shall remain the their home region. All the details are not yet confirmed.

1. What will you do for the betterment of the region?

1. For the betterment of the region I will encourage people to join the WA and then the RDF, I will make sure that recruitment stays as a top priority so as we may keep growing, and I will also encourage people to join the forum and get in on all the fun and politics that are going on there.

2. What will be new about your policies?

2. Let see, new about my policies well... I think screening backgrounds very thoroughly when someone is trying to get into a high authoritative office, and making sure all voting is fair in each and every vote. Those are two my new policies that I will see done if I am elected.

3. What experience do you bring?

3. Experience that I bring... Well, I have been in this region since almost the beginning, I was the Prime Minister during our early government, and over the last vacation that Neas took I held office as Founder, just in case there was a break down in government and there was anarchy in the streets.

4. How much would you pay for a shrubbery?

4. Well I wouldn't pay took much... unless it was a good shrubber. I would also pay much much more if the shrubber made two shrubberies, with one taller than the other so as to get the nice layered look that everyone likes... biggrin2.gif

5. What is your real life political ideology?

5. My real life political ideology is pretty conservative. My ideology actually seems very conservative especially when you look around and see so many extreme liberals. So, I guess you can say that I am a Conservative.

1. What will you do for the betterment of the region?


So that the region can move forward I will be introducing the PC and RC. These two parties will have set jobs for people who are willing to take them and the parties will move the region into a new greatness. They will work together and with others to expand what we have and they will be based at getting newer members into the game and our forums.

WA co. will be reformed from the present WA corp. and will be a line down from the PC and will be a major asset to our rejion and the WA.

2. What will be new about your policies?


My polices will be different. I am for everyone. I wish wo strive to increase the already high standards of the newspaper so thatnewer and older member know who they can inform, ask and so that they they know what is going on in our region, I will also like to get a close partnership between the PC and the newspaper team.

I wish to bring in a peer and mentor service which I have brought into other RPG games and they have been highly succesful and this will be managed by the RC and will be a great place for socaily, mentally and physicaly creating a larger bond and partnership between new and older members.

3. What experience do you bring?


As everyone knows I am new to the game. However I have been heads of states and defence, recruitment and interior in other games, however at the moment I am not head of anything else so I have a lot of free time to donate and contribute my commitment to AWP.

4. How much would you pay for a shrubbery?


With money raised in certain areas.

5. What is your real life political ideology?


I believe that everyone should have the same chance to get schooling and health care but I don't mind in grammar schools, I believe in everyone to be able to get a chance to get there best ability.

Ok, first off we have a new delegate! The polls just closed on the forum and the nation Cow Herders won with almost 65% of the popular vote. PLEASE BE SURE TO ENDORSE HIM if you haven't already. Your endorsement makes our whole region more influential in the World Assembly.

Also, I know some of you have probably heard me say this over and over and over, but our forum is the heart of our region (and home of all the fun ). It hosts our RDF and RDFEF one of the largest and probably the most active armies on nationstates! We would love for you to join our military and if you have any questions feel free to contact Numero Capitan or myself.
Our forum is also home to our government and it is there where we have fun and games, interesting discussions and even a currency!

Now, you all have probably noticed you have something that says "Reserve your name for Nationstates2!" Many beta keys have been released and some of us are already playing NS2. We are currently located in world 7 and world 33. World 7 is currently "full" so if you are just joining probably go to world 33.
In my own opinion NS2 has a lot of kinks but it is still in a beta version so hopefully they will be improving it soon. Please remember though NATIONSTATES1 IS NOT GOING AWAY! Everything here will function the same as it always has it is completely up to you as to whether you join NS2. And even if you join NS2 be sure to stay active on NS1. If you have any questions about what we're doing on NS2 be sure to ask me.

Ok, that's about it. Things are going well overall in the region. We have had a slight population pull back but we're again on the rise. Our delegate endorsements continue to be our strong point and we have one of the most influential delegates in the world assembly thanks to you.

Neanbear has resigned from his position as Minister of Immigration and has announced that he will be leaving the NationStates world for a while:

Oct 29th: Cow Herders was elected delegate of 00000 A World Power! He was placed in power after he had second most endorsements in the region and the lovebale ex-delegate (Lord Tothe) ejected himself from the region. We wish Cow Herders best of luck in his service of AWP as delegate!
