The Dog
My friend and I started a game the other day over msn, and it is a relatively simple, creative game that I think may catch on. I call it, 'The Dog Game'.
Rules
- The first player writes 'The dog...' and adds a simple past tense verb (anything ending in '-ed') at the end (eg, the dog barked, the dog hoped, the dog realized, etc).
- The next player fills in the rest of the story based on those first three words (eg, the dog barked...at the moose which happened to be in the area).
- The player who answered must then write another 'the dog...', which is completed in turn.
It's not all that hard and is very fun. Here is a copy of the game me and my friend pioneered:
What a strange occurence that just happened says:
The dog loped
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition says:
over to the emergency switch, and pulled the cord. "GET OFF THE TRAIN!" He yelled, but he knew it was already too late: the engine up front was already rushing towards the bomb on the tracks
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition says:
...
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition says: (in response the 'poked')
the potato sack with the bayonette of his rifle. "Raus!" He barked, knowing that the would-be escapee was ensconsed below the sacks on the truck leaving the POW camp. The prisoner dutifully listed his head; the game was up. "Ich bein haer, mien reichslaiter!"
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition says:
the dog throwed
What a strange occurence that just happened says:
a ball for the man to fetch, thinking, one day, these men will rise up against us, and perhaps we may be the slaves...
...
What a strange occurence that just happened says:
The dog plowed
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition says:
into his wife.
Get it? Ok:
The dog loved...
EDIT: also, move this to the game forum.
