Nor particularly in favour of the guillotine... Wasn't the guillotine a French invention?

i believe it was used before the french revolution by the brits... Archaix: Yeah, i was thinking on it...should i use the UK flag or the English one... But this one looks better ;D And for the guillotine, it was sarcastic(what a wonderful invention, a true englishman should be proud of that ;D) Just like Teller (manhattan project) - However, this is not a wise choice, since personally i think the A-Bomb has saved the world from another world war. ***** Next Question: General Meade and Lee, the date is 1863. Which battle?

I suppose this is a question for Duetsch. I always get Independence and Civil war battles mixed up.
So...Lexington?

Wait a min, Luther was way later. Something with the Turks? . . *suddenly, light in my brain* Or we are too selfish in Europe, and this will be Columbus' voyage to the New World, with the Santa Maria. Obvious.

The Fall of Constantinople- that was in 1453, and i'm almost sure that was the event DG referring to.
(My sudden enlightment was a crap.1497 for Colombus, or something like that. Eh, i was always bad with dates)
And as far as i know, there are different interpretations for the end date of the middle ages, and i believe we posted most of it

Ah, America can go to hell. Besides, everyone knows the Vikings probably discovered it first.

The Fall of Constantinople... I don't know how those ended the middle ages Good job Led Zeppelin, you get to ask the next question! I beleive the discoverer of America was Amerigo, hence the continent was named after him.

Amerigo Vespucci, who discovered South America. The north was officially discovered by Columbus, and called Columbia until the cartographer Mercator (Kardas will know of him) erroneously called both continents America.
Mercator also coined the term 'Atlas' posthumously, as his twin masterpiece of Geography and Cosmology was introduced with a picture of the mythical Atlas holding up a globe. However, this has led to the popular misconception that Atlas held up the world, when in fact he was said to have only held up the skies as a punishment.
I read a biography.

Plz, don't use wiki or anything, only your own brain! This would ruin the game. I guess this applies to drafting questions, too.

He saw the 'on this day' section on Wikipedia and drafted the question. Fortunately, I was suspicious enough to follow it up.
